La La Land Cafe

It has been long over due but welcome to another episode of V+. I have several places to tell you guys about and ready to give my honest reviews so let’s dive right into it.

To start I want to explain my grading scale. V+ is obviously a 10/10 product or service. It met or even exceeded my expectations and definitely think it’s worth your money & time to spend. A V , a 8-9/10, means it was still really good, but something was either missing or just didn’t meet the requirements of a V+ grading but still worth your money and time. A V-, a 5-7/10, means it was pretty good but still had a lot of work to do in order to get a higher reviewing grade and might not be worth your money so many times. Anything below a 5/10 is automatically considered an F and has met little to no standards on the grading scale and is definitely not worth your money.

(My grading scale is also not to be taken seriously, I am simply starting my own review series based on my own opinions, standards, and experiences. Please understand that everyone’s opinion may & will be different and know not everyone will agree.)

While obviously on the hunt for the best experiences, food and products, I’m always on the hunt for the best matcha around me. If you know me, I practically eat breathe sleep matcha. If it was possible, my DNA would literally be matcha. When I first took notice of La La Land it was on almost every influencers instagram story, if you live around WeHo you had to have had La La Land at least once. Nessa Barrett even had a collab drink with them which I unfortunately never had the opportunity to taste.

Truly the only La La Land that is somewhat close to where I live is the Glendale Americana location but it is ALWAYS filled with so many people wanting to try the viral cafe drinks. Luckily one afternoon I finally had the chance to give it a try. I mobile ordered three drinks which was a total of around $20. When it comes to pricing, one cannot really argue because they are reasonable and not crazy prices just because of namesake or popularity. I ordered an iced matcha la la latte with oat milk, a hot chocolate, and a hot upside down matcha latte. Ordering it on my phone was indeed faster than waiting in the line that was always practically out the door no matter the time of day.

But since there was so many people not only in line but also waiting for drinks, it caused for the already small cafe to be packed so easily and so fast. When it came to grabbing the drinks, it was honestly very disorganized. The person that was literally standing there in charge of simply handing out the drinks was not only not calling out names, but simply creating a big bunch of drinks and separating the ones that were supposed to be together. I got two of my drinks but still had to wait for one more. The person saw me grab the ones for my name and stood standing there for my last one. If I didn’t go searching for my drink in the sea of the other drinks, I really would have been standing there like a dummy waiting on my last drink. The cup my drink came in was really cute and I liked the fact that you were able to secure the hole so it doesn’t spill.

My first impression my iced matcha latte was honestly not it. So I took another. And another. Sad to say I was truly disappointed with the taste because of how many people seemed to love it. It didn’t taste bitter, it didn’t taste sweet, it just simply did not taste like matcha the way I felt it would’ve been. My mom and brother also did not like their drinks and even though they got two seperate drinks, two very seperate flavors, they both said that their drinks (hot upside down matcha latte and hot chocolate) tasted exactly the same.

Due to the the disorganization of grabbing the drinks and the taste of the drinks, I will be giving La La Land an F. Maybe the works were simply in a rush and just didn’t make the drinks properly. I am honestly disappointed in the taste because I did have high hopes and somewhat high expectations for the taste. Have you ever tried La La Land before? Did you like it or not?
