We all know the admiration I have for Nessa Barrett. I post about her almost all the time on my personal account and TikTok. I love her style, music and overall just everything about her. She was the first artist I wrote about for Artist of The Month. But despite all of that, not only myself but so many others believe in Nessa’s talents taking her above & beyond and her first night in Los Angeles this past Saturday proved that.
Fortunately I had the opportunity to purchase a VIP Experience ticket yet again and was able to not only have a more elevated experience than usual but also obviously a better view. The experience included not only early entry but also early access to merch, a tote bag with a VIP lanyard, an opportunity to be in Nessa’s soundcheck, and a group picture with Nessa. I arrived at The Wiltern at around 11 to 11:30 and there was already a good amount of people in line. The line was mixed with just anyone in general that had a ticket. But still nothing too crazy and trusted that I would still secure my spot at the barricade. Me personally being so tiny, I feel secure only at the barricade and if I’m by myself. So even with a good amount of people in front of me I knew I would be fine.
When I arrived I instantly started conversation with the girls in front of me and they were both the sweetest girls anyone can come across. We talked about our love for Nessa, how early we got up for the day and more. It’s always a good feeling when you meet people that are interested in the same things as you. I also got numbered by the person who arrived first at 2am. I was number 33 which to me was still not too bad. I waited in the first line for about 3 hours close to 4 before being separated by our VIP category. When I got separated into the second line, by 3:00, I still continued to start conversation with the new people in front of me. As I waited in the second line I received my tote bag that had a picture of Nessa on it and inside the bag was my VIP lanyard and my exclusive tour poster. The VIP lanyard included a picture of her on a passenger princess ID card. While in line I also had the opportunity to write a “dirty little secret” and have a chance for Nessa to read it.
After about another 30 minutes, they finally started allowing people into the venue as they checked people & their stuff along with scanning our tickets. Upon entry I received a wristband confirming that I have VIP, then walked into another line to enter into the soundcheck. I was still in a good spot in line so I still held on for hope for a good spot. After a couple of more minutes, we were finally able to walk inside for soundcheck. Luckily no people pushed or ran, and my spot for soundcheck was secured right at the barricade.

I started talking to the people around me yet again and we were all so excited to have a chance to even see Nessa before her show. A man soon came out explaining how Nessa has a limited of time and wouldn’t be able to do any signings of any sort. Shortly after Nessa walked out in a striped long sleeve button down along with black matching pants and black boots. When she walked onto the stage, I kid you not it was almost like she was gliding to us. In her softest voice she greeted us and asked us how we were doing. Even with just the most simple greeting the whole crowd and I were just in awe & star struck. The whole crowd gave different responses, I had the opportunity to tell her her outfit looked amazing. She looked at me and thanked me with the sweetest and prettiest smile.

Shortly after she grabbed the dirty little secret box, grabbed a handful and began reading them out loud. Some of the stuff that was being said was very….questionable. Out of respect for the people and Nessa I will not be revealing the secrets themselves. But shortly after the secrets were read, she explained to us that she was going to soundcheck three songs for us. The first was her song Blue Valentine, the second was a cover of the song Glory Box by Portishead, and the third one we were able to choose ourselves. The majority picked her song Breakfast in Bed and that’s what was chosen as her third song to soundcheck with us.
When she started singing, she really put those lip syncing rumors to rest. Kid you not she sounded so angelic just as much as she looked it. Nessa excuses herself for not sounding her best due to being sick but we all dismiss her apology and let her know she sounds just as amazing as she does on the album. After she was done, she was collecting a few personalized items and I took this as my chance to ask for something personalized from her. Sadly I didn’t get it on recording, but I luckily caughter her attention after shouting her name and letting her know I had a question. She stopped in her tracks, with who I’m assuming was her tour manager and assistant, and looked at me to give me her full attention. I explained to her how much her song God’s Favorite meant to me and how not only that song, but the album it’s from helped me through some really hard times and would love to get the song in her handwriting for my next tattoo. For a little bit she looked at me and her tour manager but quickly asked someone for a pen and paper before he told Nessa that there wasn’t enough time. I offered my poster for her to at least sign and she gladly took it. After a minute or two later, her tour manager comes back with the poster in all its glory. On the back in black sharpie is my favorite song in her handwriting. I truly did feel like God’s favorite in that moment.

Shortly after we were let out to purchase our merch to let her opener Ari Abdul do her soundcheck. Once out, I was able to purchase my merchandise and get back in line for the concert itself. I purchased the pink tour pullover and her Aftercare camo hat. Both costed me $114.
While in line with my yet again newly found friends, there was a dispute over the line and whether or not it should return back to the numbered system. Many agreed but there was one girl who disagreed and was ready to fight anyone that tried to tell her otherwise. After several complaints to security about her, she was removed for the time remaining and was let inside last even after all of VIP entered. While we still waited,I purchased a drink containing vodka, club soda and pink lemonade. That costed me $23 and it came in a reasuble take home shaker cup. After another 15 minutes we were finally being let back inside. Luckily I had yet another spot at barricade, similar to the one I had at her Church Club For The Lonely Tour, and the waiting game began. While waiting at this spot, I yet again started talking to the people next to me because it’s always better to be nice to people while you’re alone rather than keep to yourself that way you’re able to have connections for almost anything. We talked about our love for Nessa, our plans after the concert and more. Then at 8 on the dot, Ari Abdul arrived on stage.
Ari Abdul has a smiliar sound to Nessa which immediately caught my attention along with how gorgeous she was. In that moment I had regretted not listening or knowing her music sooner. During her last song, she brought special guest Isabel LaRosa, who opened for Nessa for her Young Forever Tour. After Ari was done performing, they started setting the stage for Nessa and I can feel not only others but also myself getting more and more excited. Then just a couple minutes before 9, Nessa came onto the stage in a altered white bra and matching white feather shorts and opened with her song S.L.U.T which stands for Sex Lies Ugly Truth. Immediately she captivated the whole audience with the sound of her voice almost exactly like a siren. Throughout the entire concert for each song, I was in awe & amazement about how she was even in front of me and how amazing she looked & sounded. The entire setlist included the following songs:
- S.L.U.T
- Babydoll
- Heartbeat
- Dirty Little Secret
- Dying On The Inside
- Russian Roulette
- American Beauty
- Love Looks Pretty On You
- Mustang Baby
- Passenger Princess
- Kepp Your Eyes On Me Boy
- Does God Cry?
- Given Enough
- Edward Scissorhands
- Heartbreak In The Hamptons
- Disco
- Breakfast In Bed
- Gaslight
- Glitter & Violence
- Blue Valentine
- Glory Box
- P*rnstar
- Scare Myself
- Die First
- Pins And Needles
- Aftercare
For her song Disco she brought out the feature on the song Tommy Genius. When she was brought out the whole venue erupted in pure excitement. The songs I was most excited to hear live was Edward Scissorhands, Russian Roulette, Blue Valentine, Passenger Princess and Given Enough. For each song, Nessa definitely did not disapoint one bit. At the end of the setlist, confetti erupted as she waved us goodbye and wished us a safe ride home. Of course I collected the money confetti and brought it home where it sits with my Nessa VIP lanyards. From beginning to end, Nessa’s concert was truly a 10/10 and most definitely gets a V+. From the concert itself, the atmosphere, the people and more it was truly one of her best concerts that I’ve been to by far. Compared to her very first tour, Nessa has truly improved immensely in her vocals, stage performance, connection with the crowd, and even her confidence. Yes she did wear revealing outfits before for her tours and sang about explicit things from time to time, but not only the album but the tour has showcased how much her confidence and just how much Nessa overall has grown as a musical artist. You can hear it her music, you can see it in her fashion, performance and so much more. People miss the old Nessa Barrett and while I do too sometimes, I am also beyond proud and excited for this new version of Nessa who is clearly more proud & confident within herself to give us the music & content she’s been giving us.
